Green Sanctuary

Green Sanctuary was set up by The Ministry for the Earth. Green Sanctuary is a commitee that tries to be conscious of the enviroment.

We look at what we could do to save paper, energy, and water We then encourage the congregation to do the same.

The UUFD has a green sanctuary committee that is in the works of becoming accredited by the Ministry for the Earth. Our first meeting took place Saturday, December 3, 2005,and we discussed how we would run the commitee, rules, and what we should do. Four program areas:

  1. Worship and Celebration
  2. Religious Education
  3. Environmental Justice
  4. Sustainable Living

Goals:

To build awareness of societal environmental issues among UUs.

To generate commitment for personal lifestyle changes.

To motivate UUs to community action on environmental issues.

To build a connection between spiritual practice and environmental consciousness.

To build awareness of and rectify environmental injustices.
